ACT lifts travel requirements from Greater Sydney but not from Victoria

Following the NSW Government decision to lift remaining COVID-19 restrictions imposed earlier this month, the ACT Government has lifted travel requirements from Greater Sydney to the ACT, but travel requirements for Victoria remain in place.

All COVID-19 exposure locations in Greater Sydney have been removed from the ACT’s COVID-19 Areas of Concern Notice and the ACT COVID-19 website.

Currently, anyone from Greater Sydney can travel freely to the ACT.

In addition, the Greater Sydney region is no longer considered a geographical area of risk in relation to attending high-risk settings in the ACT.

This means that staff, visitors and volunteers who have been to Greater Sydney in the previous 14 days are again able to attend high-risk settings in the ACT. High-risk settings include hospitals, residential aged care facilities, correctional facilities and residential accommodation facilities that support people who require frequent, close personal care and who are vulnerable to severe disease.

Staff who have been in Greater Sydney in the past 14 days, who provide home-based aged care and disability services that involve close physical contact with clients, are also able to resume providing in-home care.

Victoria travel requirements remain in place

Travel requirements in Victoria remain in place at this time. Anyone who has visited Greater Melbourne since 6 May should continue to check the COVID-19 Areas of Concern information to see if they have been in any current close contact or casual contact exposure locations.

This information is regularly updated if new COVID-19 exposure sites are identified. Please continue checking to see if you have been to a COVID-19 exposure site.

Please remember that the COVID-19 situation in states and territories can change quickly. If you are intending to, or have recently travelled interstate, keep checking the public health advice in the relevant state or territory before travelling and for 14 days after returning.

Visit the ACT Government’s COVID-19 website for current exposure locations.
