ACT, NSW to reopen borders to Victorians on Monday

All things going to plan, NSW and the ACT will simultaneously open their borders to Victorians at 12.01am on Monday 23 November.

After careful consideration, ACT Chief Health Officer Dr Kerryn Coleman decided it was safe to lift restrictions given Victoria has now gone three weeks without recording a COVID-19 case.

“The lifting of restrictions will give people the confidence to make plans, book holidays and reunite with family members in Victoria in the lead up to Christmas,” she said.

“It will be a boost for local business as we welcome more people from Victoria.”

The Chief Health Officer reminded travellers to remember the ABCs of COVID-safe travel:

Avoid COVID-affected areas.

Behave in a COVID-safe way.

Check back when you’re home.

With the situation in South Australia less stable, the ACT Government advised that travel between ACT and SA should be limited.
The border remains open; however, residents of both locations are advised to travel for essential purposes only.

Anyone who has been in South Australia in the past 14 days will be required to complete an online declaration to enter the ACT, prior to entry.

There have been no new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the ACT in the past 24 hours, leaving the ACT’s total at 115. There is one active case in the ACT, a returning diplomat.

The number of negative tests recorded in the ACT is now 116,209.
