ACT records 17 new COVID cases as testing surges

The ACT’s fully vaccinated rate has cracked 97 per cent, as 17 new COVID cases were reported in Canberra.

The new figures come a day after the ACT registered its highest daily case numbers in almost a month, with 25 registered on Thursday.

Testing rates for COVID -19 have risen sharply with more than 4200 negative tests recorded, double that of the previous day.

Hospital numbers remain stable with three people in hospital including one in intensive care and on a ventilator.

There are now 183 active cases in the Canberra community, while there have been 1889 infections since the Delta outbreak began in August.
