More Canberra schools have been listed as COVID exposure sites, as the number of weekly infections continue to rise in the capital.

The latest weekly epidemiological update from ACT Health revealed there are now 23 school campuses in the territory where a COVID-positive case attended, up from 20 the week before.

However, health authorities said onward transmission had only occurred at five of the campuses.

In the week from 15 to 21 November, 101 COVID-19 cases were recorded, an increase from 87 infections during the previous week.

The average number of weekly tests increased to about 2600, but the overall rate of positive results had dropped.

ACT Health said more cases had been detected in children under 18, which authorities said was consistent with cases linked to schools.

Of the 152 positive COVID-19 patients that have been hospitalised during the outbreak, 40 of them have been treated in intensive care and 19 have been put on ventilators.

None of the 19 were fully vaccinated.

The number of COVID-19 patients in hospital has risen to six, with three of those being in intensive care, two of them on ventilators.

The latest figures from ACT health authorities show 97.3 per cent of the territory’s population over 12 have received both vaccine doses.

The number of negative tests in Canberra remains relatively high, with 1566 recorded in the 24 hours to 9am on Tuesday.
