The ACT has recorded 22 new locally acquires COVID-19 cases as the Territory’s lockdown is extended by a month.
14 of the 22 cases are linked to previously known cases or exposure sites while eight remain under investigation.
Nine of the 14 linked cases are household contacts.
Just two were in quarantine during their entire infectious period while 13 were present in the community and seven are still being investigated.
Ten patients remain in hospital with two in intensive care and one requiring ventilation.
Two are fully vaccinated but not in intensive care, one is partially vaccinated, six are unvaccinated and the vaccination status one is unknown.
The youngest patient in hospital is in their twenties, oldest in their 70s while the ICU range is 40-60.
The total number of cases during the current outbreak is now 528.
276 cases have recovered with the current active cases sitting at 252.
The median age of cases during the current outbreak is 26, with just over half of them being males.
There have been 28 unlinked cases throughout the outbreak, suggesting unknown chains of transmission in the community.
Over two thirds of total cases have been in the community for some or all of their infectious period which Dr Kerryn Coleman said poses further risk.
“Whilst a number of these are expected … this still does present a risk for further spread,” Dr Coleman said.
Over 3,700 tests were conducted in Canberra yesterday while there are now 320 current exposure locations in the ACT.
