The ACT has recorded 25 new COVID-19 cases in the 24 hours to 8pm last night; 18 are linked to outstanding known infections, while the remaining seven are still under early investigation.
Of Canberra’s 25 new cases, only three were in quarantine for their entire infectious period and at least 16 were in the community while infectious.
Ten people are currently hospitalised with or due to COVID-19, four are in ICU with three requiring ventilation.
Of the 10, eight are unvaccinated and two are fully vaccinated.
The youngest person in hospital with COVID is in their 30s and the oldest in their 90s.
The total number of cases during the current Canberra outbreak is now 750. There are now 510 recovered cases, leaving 240 active cases in the ACT.
In some good news, Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith told reporters on Sunday no new positive cases have been identified in the outbreak at the Canberra Hospital.
“More than 200 negative tests have so far been returned from both staff and patients,” she said.
“I was advised this morning that all staff tests have now been returned and have come back negative. There will be more testing today, and the situation is being closely monitored.”
Two virus cases had been reported last week in patients sharing a room at the hospital.
ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said on Saturday that as regional NSW health services began feeling the burden of caseloads, some COVID-19 patients were being sent to ACT hospitals for treatment, a trend he expected to continue.
There are also no new cases linked to the outbreak at the Haydon Calvary Retirement Village with the numbers remaining at 12 cases, of which three are staff and nine are residents. Nine of the 12 cases are fully vaccinated, three are either partially vaccinated or unvaccinated.
