ACT records 52 new coronavirus cases for second straight day

The ACT has recorded 52 new coronavirus cases overnight, with 30 linked to existing cases or ongoing clusters and the remaining 22 under investigation.

Of the 52 new COVID-19 cases, just ten were in quarantine their entire infectious period with at least 29 spending some time in the community while infectious.

13 people are currently hospitalised with or due to COVID-19; three are in ICU all requiring ventilation.

Eight patients are unvaccinated, four have had one dose and the status of one is unknown.

The youngest patient is in their 20s, the oldest in their 80s.

The total number of cases for the current outbreak is now 939 with 617 recovered cases.

There are currently 319 active cases in the ACT.

3,241 tests were conducted yesterday and several additional exposure sites have been listed.

The news comes a day after the ACT recorded its ‘toughest day’ of the outbreak with 52 cases and two deaths of aged care residents in their 80s who had been receiving palliative care prior to contracting the virus.
