ACT records 549 new COVID cases

The ACT has recorded 549 new COVID cases in the 24 hours to 8pm last night with no deaths.

Of the new infections, 352 are from PCR tests and 197 are positive rapid antigen tests.

There are 61 people in the hospital with the virus and just one in the ICU and requiring ventilation. ACT Health does not clarify how many of the 61 patients are in hospital because of COVID or due to other medical reasons.

The total number of cases in Canberra during the pandemic is now at 36,897 with 26 deaths.

There are 3,386 active COVID cases in the ACT.

70.3 per cent of children aged between 5 and 11 have had one dose of the vaccine while 50.4 per cent of ACT residents aged over 18 have had a booster.
