ACT records 739 new COVID cases as second booster rollout begins

The ACT has recorded 739 new COVID cases in the latest update as the second booster rollout begins across Australia.

It is the third straight day of under one thousand cases in the ACT, after 808 and 718 were reported on Saturday and Sunday.

The ACT has now recorded a total of 80,964 COVID-19 infections since the start of the pandemic and 42 deaths.

There are 45 people currently in hospital with the virus in Canberra, four are in intensive care and two require ventilation.

There are 5,716 active COVID cases in the ACT.

Meanwhile, more than half a million Australians are dealing with COVID-19 infections as a second booster is rolled out for vulnerable people.

People aged 65 and older, Indigenous Australians aged at least 50, disability care residents and the immunocompromised are among those receiving their fourth dose from today.

ACT COVID-19 vaccination numbers

  • Aged 5-11 (1 dose): 80.2 per cent
  • Aged 5-11 (2 doses): 54 per cent
  • Aged 5+ (2 doses): 98.4 per cent
  • Aged 16+ (3 doses): 73.4 per cent
