ACT records eight new COVID-19 cases

The ACT has recorded eight new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night.

It comes as the number of patients with cleared or active COVID cases in Canberra hospitals dropped by one to seven.

Of those, three are being treated in intensive care and one is on a ventilator.

The territory’s vaccination rate continued to inch higher on Thursday, with 97.9 per cent of residents aged over 12 years now fully vaccinated.

Testing rates have remained stable, with 1,747 negative results recorded on Wednesday.

There are now 128 active cases in Canberra with 2,018 total cases in the Territory since the start of the outbreak.

Meanwhile, NSW recorded 271 new coronavirus cases and no deaths, while Victoria reported 1,419 infections and 10 deaths.
