ACT records eighth road fatality for 2021 after bicycle collision

A man has died following a bicycle collision on Tuesday in Tuggeranong, bringing the total number of road deaths in the ACT in 2021 to eight.

About 11.20am on Tuesday 17 August, police were called to an incident involving two cyclists, on a bike path surrounding Lake Tuggeranong, Greenway.

A 45-year-old man had fallen from his bicycle and a 70-year-old cyclist following had collided with him.

Soon after, the 70-year-old collapsed and medical assistance was provided by witnesses.

He was transported to the Canberra Hospital by ambulance however he died soon after.

ACT Policing’s Major Collision Team is preparing a report for the Coroner. Investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident and have not already provided their information.
