A man in his 60s and another man aged in his 90s have died with COVID-19 as the ACT recorded 826 new cases in the 24 hours to 8pm yesterday.
In a statement, ACT Health extended its sincere condolences to the men’s families and friends.
Their deaths bring to 22 the total number of fatalities attributed to COVID in the ACT since 12 March 2020 from total 29,245 cases. This represents a 0.075 per cent death rate amongst positive cases.
Of the 826 new cases, 567 were recorded via rapid antigen tests and 259 via PCR testing.
Hospitalisations from COVID-19 in the ACT have also remained stable with 62 patients being treated, with two in intensive care and one on a ventilator.
There are now 5,647 actives cases in the ACT, with more than 4,100 of them coming from rapid test results.
Vaccination rates for school children continue their steady increase, with 41.7 per cent of five to 11-year-olds having received their first jab.
Health authorities have said 36.4 per cent of those 18 and over have received their booster shot.
