The ACT has taken another step toward living with COVID-19 in the community, with more restrictions being eased to a near baseline.
It comes as the ACT recorded 15 new virus cases in the latest reporting period.
From today, ACT restrictions have eased to no longer include the mandate to wear face masks indoors, except in high-risk settings such as hospitals, aged care and public transport.
All caps have been removed for the number of visitors allowed in a household or for outdoor gatherings.
Indoor and outdoor entertainment venues can also operate at 100 per cent capacity under the new changes.
Density caps will be reduced for retail and hospitality venues, which will allow for one person per two square metres.
Restrictions for venues such as swimming pools and cinemas will also be lifted.
The ACT’s vaccination rate has reached 96 per cent of over 12s having both doses.
Meanwhile, ACT Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith has extended Canberra’s public health emergency declaration until February 12.
The territory government has also added six local government areas in NSW and Victoria to a list of high-risk areas for travellers, which will come into effect from midnight.
They include Campaspe and Indigo local councils in Victoria, as well as the Central Darling, Gwydir, Inverell and Moree Plains regions of NSW.
Anyone who has visited a high-risk area in the previous two weeks who is entering the ACT will need to fill out an exemption within 72 hours.
Fully-vaccinated travellers will be automatically exempt but those who haven’t been vaccinated will be subject to stay-at-home orders until 14 days have passed since they were last in the high-risk location.
There are currently 37 high-risk areas identified by the ACT government, while 22 others have been removed from the list.
Thursday was a day of high testing levels in Canberra, with 2673 negative tests recorded.
There are 154 active COVID-19 cases in the ACT.
