The Victorian Government today announced they are investigating four new COVID-19 cases in Greater Melbourne. As a result, ACT Health is advising people in the ACT who have been in Greater Melbourne in the last 14 days to check the COVID-19 Areas of Concern information on the ACT COVID-19 website to see if they have been in any current close contact locations.
People who have attended a close contact exposure location in Greater Melbourne should:
- contact ACT Health on (02) 5124 6209.
- get tested for COVID-19
- quarantine immediately for 14 days from the date they were last in the exposure location even if they get a negative test result.
Non-ACT residents who have been to a close contact exposure location cannot enter the ACT without an approved exemption prior to arrival. The form is available on the COVID-19 website.
This is an evolving situation and the ACT Public Health (COVID-19 Areas of Concern) Notice 2021 is regularly updated on the ACT COVID-19 website as new COVID-19 exposure sites are identified. Please continue checking to see if you have been to a newly identified COVID-19 exposure site.
In a statement, ACT Health advised this is a timely reminder to remain vigilant for COVID-19. “If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, even if mild, please get tested and stay at home until you have a negative result and your symptoms have resolved,” the statement continued.
“If you are travelling please remember that things can change quickly. Regularly check the public health advice of the place you are visiting, follow regular COVID-safe practices and check in at venues to support contract tracing.
Keeping Canberra safe and strong
“These recent developments show that COVID-19 is still with us. Â ACT residents and visitors should continue to keep Canberra safe and strong by:
- staying home if unwell
- getting tested for COVID-19 if experiencing even mild COVID-like symptoms
- physically distancing from people you do not know
- practising careful hand and respiratory hygiene.”
