ACT workplaces invited to join free active-travel program

The Conservation Council ACT Region and Canberra Environment Centre (CEC) are asking local workplaces if they’re ready to ‘Make the Move‘ and sign up to a free active-travel program. But they’ll need to get in quick! Expressions of interest close this Sunday 21 March.

‘Make the Move’ is an innovative project, developed by the Council and CEC, that aims to lead Canberra businesses and commuters into the future of sustainable transport.

As part of the project, the two organisations are inviting Canberra businesses to take part in a free workplace program which includes:

  • a tailored introductory workshop,
  • the loan of e-bikes and e-scooters, and
  • support to try new modes of travel.

At this stage, they are calling for expressions of interest to participate in the active-travel program. Once a workplace has registered its interest, they will be contacted to discuss the program in more detail. The Council and CEC will work collaboratively with interested workplaces to help implement the program.

Workplaces are invited to register their interest for the program by 21 March. The selection process will be based on location and number of employees.

Benefits of the program are said to include helping staff improve their health, save money and contribute to a more sustainable future for their workplace and the city.

The workplace program will be complemented by a new website, complete with practical information and tips, as part of the ‘Make the Move’ project which is funded by an ACT Government Community Zero Emissions Grant.

Visit the Make the Move project page for more information and to register.
