AFP duty belt, firearm stolen from police vehicle

An Australian Federal Police (AFP) duty belt and firearm were stolen from an AFP vehicle in Fraser yesterday, Wednesday 30 September.

ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance to locate the stolen property.

In a media release issued today, ACT Policing advised there was a significant ACT Policing and AFP presence in the Belconnen district yesterday in response to a report of a stolen AFP duty belt and accoutrements, including a firearm.

ACT Policing officers continue to follow several lines of enquiry, and encourage anyone who may have information about the location of the stolen property to contact police. Information can be provided anonymously. ACT Policing also requests dash-cam footage from between 5am and midday in Fraser.

AFP Professional Standards is also conducting an internal investigation in relation to the incident.

If anyone in the Canberra community has knowledge of the stolen property they are urged to come forward. This information can be provided through Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference 6639596. Information can be provided anonymously.

ACT Policing advised that as this is an ongoing investigation, no further comment will be made at this time.
