Alleged public domestic assault in Greenway leads to police chase and arrest

A 29-year-old man is set to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today after allegedly assaulting his partner and evading police.

Around 2:30pm yesterday, Tuesday 5 November, police were alerted to a report of a man striking a woman in the face in public in Greenway before fleeing the scene in a Toyota Corolla.

Shortly afterward, officers spotted the car along Cynthea Teague Crescent and signalled for the driver to stop. However, the man ignored the directive, swerving around police and driving erratically. The vehicle was later found in Isabella Plains, where police located the man hiding in a nearby home’s roof cavity.

Police have since seized the vehicle, and the man has been charged with aggravated common assault and failing to stop for police.
