Australia’s Under Thirteen finalist team went up against teams of children from Canada, Indonesia, New Zealand, South Africa, Thailand, and the USA earlier this week in the world final of the Kids Lit Quiz.

The world final is made up of ten rounds, each with seven questions. Every team starts on ten points, then receives two points for correct answers and loses one for incorrect answers. This year’s categories were Authors, Coming-of-Age Novels, Manga, Mythology, Non-fiction, Nursery Rhymes, Rivers, Shakespeare, Titles, and Wizards.

Taking place in the Canberra Grammar School Auditorium, the nationals’ winners, children aged 10-13, put their extensive knowledge of all things books and literature to the test.

Australia excelled in the rounds about Coming-of-Age Novels, Manga, Shakespeare, and Mythology. It was neck and neck; Australia bouncing between first and second place until the final round where Indonesia took a nine-point lead to claim the world final.
