After a stellar effort in Cape Town, the Brumbies were unlucky in Buenos Aires on Sunday 28 April with a well-rested Jaguares proving too strong as they claimed a 20-15 victory.
In a tight tussle, the Brumbies were two points behind at the break, down 17-15, thanks to tries from Folau Fainga’a and Tom Banks. Unfortunately they were unable to add any extras in the second half with the only points coming from a Jaguares penalty conversion. Despite the loss, the Brumbies came away with a bonus point for their efforts.

Manly ground Green Machine
After a high-flying start to the NRL season, the Canberra Raiders were brought back to earth with a four-point loss to the Manly Sea Eagles on Sunday 28 April.
The Raiders held a two-point lead at half-time, up 14-12, however two quick tries to the home side put the Green Machine on the back foot and they never fully recovered with Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad scoring a late consolation try.
Of concern for the Raiders was an injury to winger Jordan Rapana with suspected rib cartilage damage.
The Raiders’ next match is against the Penrith Panthers in Wagga Wagga on Saturday 4 May.

Brave undefeated
The CBR Brave remain undefeated in the Australian Ice Hockey League after defeating the Adelaide Adrenaline 6-2 and 6-3 in Adelaide during a two-game series over the weekend of 27-28 April.

Grant funding
The Molonglo Juggernauts AFL Club has received $50,000 to upgrade and improve the facilities at Stirling Oval as part of the Federal Government’s Community Sport Infrastructure Grant program.
Higgins oval upgrade
The first sod has been turned for the Higgins neighbourhood oval upgrade. The works will include new irrigation and turf, sportsground lighting and a brand new pavilion with a completion date in early 2020.
Capital Football appointments
Capital Football has appointed experienced referee and administrator Mark Hester to the position of Referee Development Manager for Canberra and the surrounding region. He will join Capital Football in May; Mark O’Neill has stepped down as Chairman of the Capital Football Board. There will be two new faces with the completion of Peter Maybury’s tenure: former Australia and Canberra United player Grace Gill, and Gary Vandeburgt, who has 30 years as a player, referee, club and media official and competition administrator, have been elected to the board.
