Taking some time out of their arduous pre-season schedule, Brumbies players Tevita Kuridrani, James Slipper, Joe Powell, Toni Pulu, Josh Mann-Rea and Tom Cusack paid a visit to some of the children at the Canberra’s Women’s and Children’s Hospital earlier this month.
The players came with plenty of Christmas cheer, bringing gifts and sharing a laugh with the children, who were delighted to meet some of their on-field heroes.

Bandits conquer Cavalry
Despite resulting in a 3-1 loss, the Canberra Cavalry’s first home series of the 2018/19 season saw four thrilling battles against the Brisbane Bandits.
The hotly anticipated 2017-18 play-offs rematch got off to a belter in a see-sawing match in which the lead changed three times with the Bandits closing out 6-4.
The Cavs struck back in a classic game two, winning 2-1. The Bandits then won games three and four 5-3 and 9-7.
Whilst it wasn’t the end result desired by the Cavs, the fans who came out in numbers were treated to some top-notch baseball at the newly renovated MIT Ballpark in Narrabundah.

Wanderers wrestle results in a draw
Canberra United were held to an entertaining 2-2 draw by the Western Sydney Wanderers in the Westfield W-League at Spotless Stadium on Friday 7 December.
With both sides goalless after the first half, United defender Ellie Carpenter struck right after the break to give her side the lead.
The Wanderers pegged United back shortly after, with both sides then adding another goal each in what was an action packed second half.
Canberra will have the bye this week before travelling to play Melbourne City at AAMI Park, Melbourne on 22 December.
Canberra bring the Heat
The ACT’s representative volleyball sides, Canberra Heat, were the only club at the Australian Volleyball League Championships to win medals in both the Men’s and Women’s competitions taking the silver and bronze respectively in Melbourne on 7-10 December.
Volleyball ACT Chief Executive Adam Castle said the result has done the community proud.
“They have worked hard and sacrificed in pursuit of victory and the players have earned their medals,” he said.
