Brumbies women win big

The Brumbies Women recorded their biggest win in Super W history on Sunday 3 March, running riot over the Melbourne Rebels at Seiffert Oval in Queanbeyan.

Tayla Stanford grabbed three tries for the match along with doubles to Rachel Crothers, Remi Wilton and Michelle Perry as the home side romped to the 69-0 victory, and their first win of the 2019 Super W campaign.

The next match for the Brumbies Women is against the Queensland Reds on Saturday 16 March.

In other results, the Brumbies were unsuccessful against the Hurricanes going down 43-13 in their Super Rugby match on Friday 1 March.

The Brumbies will look to strengthen their position in the Australian conference over the next three weeks as the contest brings a string of local derbies starting with an away game against the Melbourne Rebels on Friday 8 March.

Meantime, Brumbies Assistant Coach Peter Hewat has been named as the new Australian Schools and U18s head coach for 2019.

Vouchers encourage active kids

Families across NSW will be able to access two $100 Active Kids vouchers per year, with the aim of encouraging participation in sport and to continue to ease the cost of living for families.

Member for Monaro John Barilaro said from 1 July 2019 to 31 December 2019, a second $100 Active Kids voucher will be available. From 2020, two $100 Active Kids vouchers will be available from Service NSW for the entire calendar year.

The two vouchers cannot be combined to pay for a single program costing more than $100. They can be used with the one provider to help pay the cost of two separate terms of sport such as the summer and winter season of netball.

To apply for the Active Kids voucher parents can register online with Service NSW and find a registered sport or physical activity, club or organisation to use their voucher with. For more: sport.nsw.gov.au/activekids or phone Service NSW on 13 77 88.

In the ACT, Variety has launched theVariety Every Chance to Play Grant (ECTP) designed to help ACT kids living with financial hardship enjoy the physical, social and community benefits of junior sport by paying sport registration fees.

ECTP grant applications are open for the winter season until 30 April for kids who play AFL, basketball, hockey, netball, soccer, rugby league and rugby union. More info: variety.org.au
