Calling all young families! The Royal Canberra Show is your ultimate weekend playground

The Royal Canberra Show is more than just an event โ€“ itโ€™s a celebration of agriculture, rural life, and community spirit. At this yearโ€™s show, you can expect to see even more new and interactive activities and shows from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 February 2025 at Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC).

Below is our top 10 list of things to do and see for FREE!

1. NEW – Kids Giggles and Games Arena, a brand-new addition to the KIDS GAMING GROUNDS, proudly supported by the Dickson Tradies and the ACT Government. This exciting space is designed to keep children entertained with interactive games, hands-on activities, and plenty of laughs.

    2. NEW – Get ready for a brand-new activity thatโ€™s sure to delight the kids โ€“ the EQ Saddlery Hobby Horse Showjumping Competition! This fun event lets young riders grab a hobby horse and tackle a mini showjumping course, complete with tiny fences and exciting challenges. Itโ€™s the perfect opportunity for children to experience the thrill of showjumping in a playful environment, all for free.

    3. NEW โ€“ Get ready to experience the worldโ€™s fastest-growing sport โ€“ Pickleball โ€“ at the Royal Canberra Show! A blend of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, this game is suitable for all ages and skill levels. Try your hand at Pickleball for free, with equipment and guidance provided to help you get started. Check out the Pickleball Court on the map.

    4. NEW โ€“ Embark on an exciting Treasure Hunt Adventure, a brand-new activity for the whole family at the 2025 Royal Canberra Show! Grab your treasure map and explore the showgrounds, collect your stamp at each stop to claim a small prize.

    5. NEW โ€“ Learn to twist and turn Balloons into objects and animals, or maybe a hat at the Fun Balloon School, a brand-new activity for the whole family at the 2025 Royal Canberra Show! All workshops are 30 minutes and take place in the Kids Giggle and Games Arena.

    Science Extravaganza
    There are plenty of interactive science shows to enjoy.

    6. Science extravaganza show – All day there are interactive science shows with potions and experiments for kids to get involved in. Be greeted by robots and entertained by the crazy scientists. Visit the Leisure and Lifestyle Pavilion/Budawang.

    7. Craft and pottery โ€“ Visit the Craft Expo Pavilion/Coorong for fun activities for kids to participate in, including getting creative with clay. Make a bowl or a beautiful sculpture. A professional potter will be on hand to help. Or learn to felt and make some extraordinary felt artworks.

    8. Milking Demonstration โ€“ If the kids love cheese, then they can learn how to make it and with live milking demonstrations to show the process. A few lucky children will be selected from the crowd to assist the cheese makers and milk the cow. So, visit the Mallee for milking demonstrations throughout the day.

    9. Sheep Shearing โ€“ Learn to shear a sheep with a professional shearer, and enjoy doing something out of the ordinary. Yes, you can engage all the senses as you help a shearer remove the woolly exterior of a local sheep in the Mallee Pavilion.

    10. Get ready for some squealing excitement with the return of Racing Piglets! This year, kids can take part in the fun by naming a piglet and cheering them on as they race to the finish line. If your piglet wins, youโ€™ll be awarded a ribbon, making you a proud champion!

    Make your visit stress-free by using public transport! On Friday, everyone can enjoy free travel on light rail and ACTION buses. On Saturday and Sunday, free travel is available exclusively for students. Transport Canberra makes it easy to reach the show without worrying about parking.

    Children under 6 years of age enter FREE, so bring the whole family along for a day full of fun, discovery, and excitement!
