What would you like Canberra to know about you?
โI moved to Canberra in 2002, started in real estate a year after that, and worked for that franchise for almost 20 years. I love Canberra, I love playing tennis, and Iโve got three kids aged 10, eight and five, and I love spending time with them.
โWhen Covid hit, I think everyoneโs priorities changed, so I decided I was going to still work hard but have a bit more of a balance with the kids. I coach my boysโ soccer team and I get to watch them play basketball and soccer. I figured out the happier I am outside of work, the happier I am at work. I realised youโve got to enjoy what youโve got.
โIโve always been in customer service, so to speak, and I just loved real estate straight away. I think once itโs in your blood, itโs in your blood, and you canโt get it out. I really like the deal, but I also have met a lot of really good people. If Iโm working at 8 oโclock at night, it doesnโt feel like work. When it does start to feel like work, thatโs when Iโll go, but for now I still love it.โ
How do you feel about your new agency venture?
โIโve been with my old agency for nearly 20 years, which is a long time. Iโm with Area Specialist now, which is a mobile franchise. Iโm the first agent in Canberra so itโs going to be pretty cool, and Iโm really excited about it. Theyโve got good, quality agents across the brand โ everyone who works there must be at a high standard. I appreciate working with my previous agency for all these years, and itโs just time for me to have a fresh start.โ
What can your clients expect from you as their agent?
โBefore I moved to Canberra, we bought a place and it was terrible โ the experience was horrible. So, I just want to make a difference and give people better customer service. I want to make sure I do the best I can for everyone I deal with.
โIโm not like the typical type of real estate agent where itโs just all words. I am who I am, and I donโt change myself. Iโm a genuine person who just happens to sell real estate. But I work hard โ if I do something, I give it everything Iโve got. You can also expect me to be loyal to you. Every job Iโve had, Iโve been at the same companies for five years, 10 years, and then 20 years. I donโt move around.โ
What would you consider your real estate style?
โA lot of clients havenโt been involved in real estate before, so I like to make sure I talk them through the whole experience. I do a lot of auctions as well, and in auctions thereโs that moment where youโre not sure if itโs going to sell โ because you never know โ so I talk to my clients every day. I send my clients an email in the morning with the 24-hour update from yesterday until today, I call them at the end of the day with an update, and Iโll call them in between then if something important comes up.
โItโs a good moment when a house sells, everythingโs done, and my clients can move on, but I like to have fun with it, too; lifeโs too short. When we are selling, we are all in. Everybodyโs got to be in and ready to go. I tell my client what they need to hear right then and there, not two weeks later. Iโm there to do a job for them โ you want to get on well with your clients, but at the end of the day. you are there to sell their property for the very best priceโ
