Canberra Airport announces new link to Coffs Harbour

Get ready to pack your shorts and sunnies, Canberra! We’ll be able to fly directly to Coffs Harbour from 22 September through locally owned airline, Link Airways.

Seeing that Coffs Harbour is a growing part of regional NSW, it seemed like the right time to offer a direct flight to the bush capital, according to Link Airway’s Manager of Network Strategy, Jeff Boyd, who was excited to be launching the new service from his hometown today, Wednesday 6 July.

“We see strong demand for direct flights between Canberra and the Coffs Coast, and the service will facilitate leisure and business links between the two regions,” Mr Boyd said.

The service will operate twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays, the perfect amount of time for a long weekend escape. The airline is offering a launch price of $189 one way.

Announcing the new service connecting the capital to the Big Banana today, ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr said how great it was to see a homegrown airline thrive in our skies.

“This builds on what’s been a growing destination and a market share out of Canberra, they are a busy airline,” Mr Barr said.

The Chief Minister said this was just one of many announcements to come from the ACT government in coming days and months as they continue to build the ACT as a destination and to attract services to Canberra’s domestic and international airport.

Although he predicts most services will be domestic based, he believes this is an important part of the industry and will encourage international tourists to move around Australia’s east coast.

Canberra Airport Head of Aviation, Michael Thomson, welcomed the newest service, noting the airport’s domestic routes have nearly doubled since the beginning of the pandemic. Canberra to Coffs Harbour will be their 13th regular route; prior to 2020 they only offered seven destinations.
