Canberra businesses receive national recognition

Two Canberra businesses have been nationally recognised at the 2018 Telstra Australian Business Awards, after being named national winners in three categories.

Cybersecurity firm Penten was the national winner of the Medium and Making Waves Award, as well as taking out the top title, the 2018 Telstra Australian Business of the Year. Penten helps defence and government agencies protect their systems and data against the threat of the digital age.

ThinkPlace, a strategic design consultancy firm, was the national winner of the Social Change Maker Award, for their work in designing processes that solve complex problems in the public, private and humanitarian sectors.

Telstra CEO, Andy Penn, said the national winners represent the best in business from across the country.

“The winners are all shining examples of businesses doing great things. They’re not afraid to take a risk, to choose innovation first and to keep pushing their vision forward. Getting to this stage of the Telstra Business Awards is a huge achievement. It’s the culmination of all their hard work,” he said.

Canberra strategic design consultancy firm ThinkPlace took out the Social Change Maker award at the Telstra Australian Business Awards.

“Penten’s clear vision for the future, deep engagement for the customer as well as for its people and culture, made it a stand-out business. Its world-class technology has gained the trust of Australian government agencies, propelling the business to exponential growth over the last three years.”

The judging panel, founder of Boost Juice and Retail Zoo Janine Allis, founder of Dimmi Stevan Premutico, and Tracey Spicer, journalist and founder of Outspoken Women, were also impressed by ThinkPlace’s “vision of making the world a better place through design”.
