Canberra Girls Grammar School: Inspiring young people to be their best

Canberra Girls Grammar School (CGGS) has combined the best in academic learning, leadership development, pastoral care, and co-curricular programs to provide an exceptional education for children and young women, for nearly 100 years.

As an International Baccalaureate World School, CGGS is the only ACT school offering a continuum of IB Programmes from the early learning years through to Year 12. The School is consistently rated as one of the ACT’s top schools due to its outstanding NAPLAN and ATAR results –the latter based on exceptional achievements in both the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS) program and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP).

Co-educational from Reception until Year 3 and girls only from Years 4-12, CGGS provides a seamless student journey in a warm, dynamic and exciting learning environment, where all students are known. Our students are supported by a whole-school approach to learning, pastoral care and co-curricular opportunities.

From our youngest students in the Early Learning Centre right through to the graduating Year 12 girls, we foster curiosity, critical thinking and a love of learning. Our students are engaged in their own inquisitive journey through challenge, reflection, and ownership. They are able to follow their own path and explore the world they wish to create for themselves.

Our multi-awarded Junior School program has an impeccable record in the delivery of the IB Primary Years Programme. With the recent introduction of the IB Middle Years Programme, Year 6 students have early access to Dance, Drama and beginner language courses at the Senior School campus to broaden their learning horizons and prepare them for high school.

When asked what makes CGGS great, students often mention being part of a supportive community, wide range of co-curricular programs and personalised learning environment that encourages and empowers each student to extend their learning and be their best.

After only a few months at CGGS, Year 6 student Gresha has already embraced the school’s community to the fullest. “I’ve had many experiences in different schools, but this one makes me feel included, respected and cared for,” Gresha said.

Year 12 student Lize, who has been at CGGS since Year 6, has harnessed the opportunities available at the School to pursue her passion as a young woman in IT. “At school, I am part of an IT class of 20 exceptional girls and I am constantly inspired by their skills, intellect and confidence. I truly believe that CGGS girls can continue to break the bias, and inspire others to do the same.”

The school is proud of its unique Signature Programs, which are tailor-made learning programs that blend classroom education with pastoral care and wellbeing. Founded on extensive research into child and adolescent development, the Programs aim to develop students into leaders with a strong sense of community and identity.

CGGS is a place where to the young, anything is possible.  Visit cggs.act.edu.au to book a campus tour today.
