Canberra home prices grow in July

Canberra home prices recorded monthly and annual growth in July, according to the PropTrack Home Price Index.

The report found that home prices in Canberra increased by 0.12% in July, which is typically the slowest month for growth.

Key findings from the report:

  • Home prices in Canberra grew by 0.12% in July and were 0.67% higher year-on-year.
  • Despite this, Canberra home prices were 5.24% below their peak.
  • Home value increases have been limited in Canberra due to strong home construction rates.
  • Since the pandemic onset in March 2020, home prices in Canberra have increased by 36.1%. 

Meanwhile, national home prices increased 0.08% in July and are now 6.3% higher than a year ago. July is on average the slowest month for growth in the calendar year.

Prices in Australia’s capital cities have increased 6.6% over the past year. Our cities have outpaced
regional markets, which recorded the first monthly price fall (-0.12%) since late 2022.
