Canberra home prices recorded monthly and annual growth in July, according to the PropTrack Home Price Index.
The report found that home prices in Canberra increased by 0.12% in July, which is typically the slowest month for growth.
Key findings from the report:
- Home prices in Canberra grew by 0.12% in July and were 0.67% higher year-on-year.
- Despite this, Canberra home prices were 5.24% below their peak.
- Home value increases have been limited in Canberra due to strong home construction rates.
- Since the pandemic onset in March 2020, home prices in Canberra have increased by 36.1%.
Meanwhile, national home prices increased 0.08% in July and are now 6.3% higher than a year ago. July is on average the slowest month for growth in the calendar year.
Prices in Australia’s capital cities have increased 6.6% over the past year. Our cities have outpaced
regional markets, which recorded the first monthly price fall (-0.12%) since late 2022.
