Canberra loves country at Googfest 2024

Thousands of music enthusiasts from around the Canberra region headed to Rockley Oval in Googong last Saturday, 10 February, for the Googfest country-themed festival.

Crowds were treated to a stellar line-up of country musicians starting with local talent Dana Hassal who is said to have delivered a country-themed power show. Proving the talent that comes from the Canberra region was CMAA Golden Guitar Female Artist of the Year nominee Hayley Jensen who was a hit with all ages in her 90-minute set.

Headliner and nine-time Golden Guitar Award winner Travis Collins ensured that the crowd stayed up and dancing with his high-octane journey through his much-loved hits. Organisers say the country-inspired event was a hit.

Since its inception in 2015, Googfest has grown to be a must-attend music event for people across Googong and the Canberra region. Malcolm Leslie, Googong project director says Googfest has consistently attracted up to 10,000 people each time with this year being no different.

“Travis Collins and Hayley Jensen delivered a set of electric performances at the weekend, both celebrating long careers in the music industry and bringing country music to a new audience. We’re delighted to continue to provide a platform for these home-grown artists and some of Australia’s best music talent, a reputation that Googfest is well-known for,” he says.
