Canberra man caught drink driving twice faces court

A 33-year-old man from Braddon faces the ACT Magistrates Court today after ACT Policing caught him drink driving twice in one day.

At 12.10am on Saturday, 22 April, police stopped a purple Mazda 2 on Batman Street, Braddon.

Police tested the driver’s breath: the man had alcohol in his system. He was taken to City Police Station, where he returned a breath analysis of 0.180, more than three times the legal limit.

The man’s right to drive was immediately suspended for 90 days.

At 11.30pm the same day, police patrols in the City saw the same purple Mazda 2, allegedly being driven by the same man, on Cooyong Street, Braddon.

Police stopped the car again, and tested the driver’s breath. Once again, the driver tested positive for alcohol. He was again transported to City Police Station, where he returned a breath analysis of 0.096, close to twice the legal limit.

The man was arrested. He has been charged with two counts of driving a motor vehicle with alcohol in his blood, and driving while suspended.
