A 49-year-old Canberra man has tragically died after being struck by an object that dislodged from a caravan near Yass yesterday evening, 8 December.
The incident occurred shortly before 6:30pm on Burley Griffin Way in Galong, when the object penetrated the windscreen of the man’s vehicle, fatally injuring him. Emergency services responded to the scene, but the man passed away before their arrival.
Three passengers in the vehicle—a 48-year-old woman and two girls aged 16 and 13—were uninjured but were transported to Canberra Hospital and treated for shock.
The 32-year-old male driver of the vehicle towing the caravan was unharmed and was taken to Harden Hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene was established, and officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are continuing inquiries.
