Canberra United has added more players to its growing W-League squad, including local football trio Rachael Goldstein, Lauren Keir and Hayley Taylor-Young.
It will be Keir’s third season with the local side, after the now 24-year-old debuted during the 2018/19 season.
Having played with the Illawarra Stingrays in NSW’s NPLW this year, Keir said she was keen to be returning home.
“I felt a bit of relief off my shoulders, knowing that I am coming back home to play for Canberra United,” she said.
“Canberra is home for me and I wanted to play there again so I am really looking forward to it.”
Rachael Goldstein will join Keir after her own successful campaign in the NSW NPLW with the Macarthur Rams, for her second season with Canberra United.
Goldstein joined the local side for her first game last year in their 3-1 win against Adelaide United.
“I am excited to be back and continue what I started last year,” Goldstein said.
“I want to step up and start improving as a player this season and I want to work towards getting more game time. I really like the way Vicki coaches so I am just excited to learn off her experience.”
Hayley Taylor-Young will also be making her second season appearance, after playing seven games last season and scoring her first goal in the league.
Head coach Vicki Linton, who has previously announced Laura Hughes and Grace Maher in the squad, said she was happy to see the local trio back in green.
“Rachael and Lauren have continued their development this year playing in the NSW NPLW with Hayley finishing out her eligibility in the Canberra United Academy,” she said.
“I have had the chance to work with Hayley for a short time over the last few weeks and I look forward to getting Lauren and Rachael into the environment and working with them.
“All three players already have experience in the Westfield W-League, and I look forward to seeing what they can bring to the squad this season.”
Linton previously stated she was still waiting on details about a start date for the W-League, which usually kicks off in November.
