Canberra United’s round 8 clash against Melbourne Victory has been postponed due to positive COVID cases within the team.
Fresh off a disappointing 6-0 loss to Sydney FC, things got even worse for Canberra with all players and staff who travelled for the game considered close contacts.
“All players and staff who travelled for the game against Sydney FC are considered close contacts due to positive COVID-19 cases within the team, and have subsequently entered seven days of isolation,” Canberra United said in a statement.
“Canberra United would like to thank ACT Health, fans and vendors for their patience and understanding during this time.”
It means the match that was scheduled for this Saturday against the Victory at Viking Park will not go ahead, with a new date to be determined soon.
United are languishing in second-last place on the ladder with 0 wins, 2 draws and 4 losses so far this season. Canberra are running out of time to make a play for finals with just eight matches to be played.
