Canberra’s premier Sustainable Business Expo returns next month to showcase the latest products, services, and ideas to enable businesses to save money and take climate action. 

On Thursday 3 November, businesses from across the ACT and surrounding regions will come together to share information on how businesses are driving change and acting on climate change.  

Shane Rattenbury, ACT Minister for Water, Energy and Emissions Reduction, said businesses are at the forefront of climate action projects and innovations across the globe.

“The expo is a great opportunity to showcase the climate leadership of Canberra businesses, and for the Canberra community and businesses to learn more about innovative sustainability products and services on offer,” Mr Rattenbury said.  

“The ACT is leading the nation on climate action with some of most ambitious emissions reduction targets and policies in Australia, which is why the Territory is also a key hub for renewable energy and sustainable technology innovation.  

“The expo is one way the ACT Government is helping to strengthen the ACT’s renewable energy and sustainability sectors and support local businesses to become more sustainable.”

The event will bring together up to 50 exhibitors, talks and presentations from industry leaders, live demonstrations, and electric vehicle test drives for businesses looking to transition their vehicle fleets.

The expo will also focus on emissions reduction efforts from gas, transport, and waste, and how small steps and actions can help businesses save money and help the ACT achieve net zero emissions by 2045.  

Benn Masters, CEO and Director of SolarHub, a solar energy equipment supplier in Mitchell, said he was excited to partner on an event celebrating Canberra’s thriving renewable and clean technology industry.

The company has helped more than 12,000 customers reduce their energy bills and greenhouse gas emissions by harnessing the power of the sun, Mr Masters said.

“Rooftop solar and battery storage solutions have been transforming our energy system for decades now, and the technology is only getting better and cheaper over time. So many households and businesses across ACT have taken control of their energy use and saved money with the help of our team.”

The Little National Hotel was a joint winner of the Corporate Climate Leader award in this year’s Climate Choices Business Awards. General manager Kathryn Carling is excited to share her hotel’s story at the Expo.
