FishCo Fish Market is well known amongst Canberrans for their large variety of fresh fish and seafood available seven days per week.
However, regular customers would have noticed something new; baskets of fresh fruit and veggies, fresh baked bread and bakery items, and shelves upon shelves of sauces, canned food, and other groceries.
“We started with just some lemons and fresh herbs for the convenience of our Monday and Tuesday customers because the Fyshwick Markets next door is closed on those days,” says Anthoula Fragopoulos, one of the Directors of FishCo.
“But then customers wanted more, so we started offering fresh fruit and veggies, deli products, jars of olives and sauces, pasta, soup stock, that kind of thing.”
During the 2020 lockdown FishCo’s wholesale department reduced to ninety per cent operations. To help keep all their staff employed, FishCo decided to shift operations into Home Delivery services.
“Then, the grocery section really took off. It takes up about half of our retail floor space now. I love being able to say ‘we’ve got that’ to our customers. We’re really proud to be able to provide great quality produce,” Anthoula says.
FishCo is currently offering Home Delivery throughout Canberra from Tuesday to Friday. Customers can get a weekly stock list by emailing [email protected] and place their order by email or phone.
“Our customers are our number one priority,” says Anthoula. “I enjoy helping people place their Home Delivery orders. I know what’s in stock or coming in and I can even give advice on how to cook it!”
