Celebrate Lunar New Year at Tiger Lane

To celebrate Lunar New Year, Tiger Lane is hosting an array of celebrations to ring in the Year of the Dragon.

The festivities will begin on Lunar New Year’s Eve, today Friday 9 February and will run through the 16 days of New Year plus four days of the Lantern Festival, ending on Saturday 24 February.

Most notable is modern Chinese restaurant Mrs Wang’s succulent Lunar New Year seafood feast of either Cantonese Lobster or Singapore-style mud crab, hand selected from the live seafood tanks and served in a delicious set menu offering.

Both menus begin with traditional gong xi fa cai ‘good luck’ dumplings to offer good fortune for the year ahead.

Lion and dragon dancers will perform in Tiger Lane throughout the festival and a very special Panda character will roam on weekends for photo opportunities while handing out vouchers.

Taiko drum performances will also occur throughout the festival. Traditionally Japanese drums are also used through Lunar New Year celebrations to help chase away the bad luck.

Customers can also win their share of a huge pool of prizes including free Tiger Lane meals and vouchers to their four restaurants Taki, Inari, Supalove and Mrs Wang.

The first is Tiger Lane’s take on a traditional Lunar New Year wishing tree. Hung on the tree are an array of lucky red envelopes filled with either good fortunes or prizes.

Customers who spend $50 or more inside Tiger Lane throughout the Lunar New Year period can pick an envelope at random during the scheduled Wishing Tree times in the hope of nabbing a Tiger Lane voucher. They can then write their wish on the red envelope and hang it back on the tree in the hope that it will come true and they will receive good fortune in the coming year.

There will also be a Tiger Lane Wheel of Fortune game. Customers who sign up to Tiger Lane’s new membership program will have access to one spin of the wheel, potentially winning an array of free food or beverage, or a voucher to one of Tiger Lane’s restaurants.

The Tiger Lane membership is a rewards program which offers points redeemable for future dining experiences at any of Tiger Lane’s venues.

“As an Asian precinct, we really want to set ourselves up as the destination to celebrate Lunar New Year in Canberra, not just this year but for years to come,” says Tiger Lane’s owner, Lin Wang.

“We have so many exciting activities for families and people of all ages to enjoy throughout the entire festival. Best of all it’s to a backdrop that feels as though you could be in the streets of Hong Kong or Shanghai which is the next best thing to being there.
