Community Bank Canberra and Regions has thrown open its own doors to provide a new home for Canberra’s independent community foundation Hands Across Canberra.
Canberra-based Hands Across Canberra works with local not-for-profit organisations to increase the level of giving and philanthropy in the region. Their staff and services can now be found at the Community Bank Deakin Branch at 75 Denison Street.
The move to the bank’s premises is part of a new partnership arrangement between Hands Across Canberra and Community Bank Canberra and Regions.
Ivan Slavich, Managing Director at Community Bank Canberra and Regions said the partnership will go a long way to help disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the region.
“Community Bank Canberra and Regions has a Community Impact Plan and one of our key strategic priorities is supporting our community with a focus on the most vulnerable people,” Mr Slavich said.
“Hands Across Canberra’s ethos perfectly aligns with our board’s strategic direction, and we are thrilled to be working with them going forward. I have seen the work they do in the community and the impact of their work is remarkable.”
Genevieve Jacobs, Hands Across Canberra CEO, thanked the Community Bank Canberra and Regions for their support.
“Community Bank Canberra and Regions have such a long and proud history of helping local groups and organisations in the area and we’re so thankful for their partnership with us,” Ms Jacobs said.
Community Bank Canberra and Regions is part of Bendigo Bank’s Community Bank Network. Since 1998, the network has grown to include more than 300 branches Australia-wide. They are wholly owned by their local communities, employing almost 1600 people. To date, more than $320 million has been returned to strengthen and underpin the local communities in which they work and support.
