The raize the roof charity house in Bonner is set to go under the hammer on Saturday 20 October, with proceeds from the sale to be split between the Starlight Children’s Foundation and SOS Children’s Villages, Botswana.
Siblings Danielle and Lincoln Dal Cortivo, co-founders of raize the roof, have been working towards the completion of the home since 2009. The house has been built by over 350 local Canberra businesses, with almost entirely donated time and materials.
The interior of the home has been styled for sale by contestants in the Decorate for a Difference competition, with the winner to be crowned on Saturday as ‘Canberra’s best stylist/s’.
Luton Properties auctioneer Jason Roses will be selling the home, and says a Canberra family, couple or investor will be lucky to purchase the “house that Canberra built”.
Attendees at the auction will also have the chance to bid on the furniture in the rooms of the house, donated by Ikea as part of Decorate for a Difference.

Dob in a dealer campaign launches
The 2018 ‘Dob in a Dealer’ campaign was launched on Tuesday by ACT Policing and Crime Stoppers.
The campaign is a nationwide program that aims to stop Australia’s supply chain of illicit drugs, through increasing information reports from the Australian public regarding people suspected of supplying or dealing drugs.
ACT Deputy Chief Police Officer Mark Walters said ‘Dob in a Dealer’ assisted the work ACT Policing is doing in targeting and disrupting the distribution of illicit drugs.
“Initiatives like Dob in a Dealer have the ability to make a real difference in the ACT community and surrounding region by encouraging the public to help disrupt the drug dealing supply chain,” he said.
“Any piece of information, big or small, relating to the manufacture and distribution of drugs can be relevant to police. That small piece of information could be the missing piece of a much bigger puzzle.”
The Canberra community is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report via the website if they have information about someone in the community who is manufacturing or supplying drugs. Information can be provided anonymously.
