Australian restaurateur Chris Lucas has today announced plans to open his first restaurant in Canberra this spring, a Mediterranean concept named Carlotta. The restaurant will open in the heart of Canberra Centre’s Scotts Crossing precinct.
Chris Lucas is responsible for some of Melbourne and Sydney’s most innovative and loved dining institutions including the renowned Chin Chin, Grill Americano and Kisumé.
Specifically fashioned for Canberra, the concept carves its own identity, designed to maximise the local talent and produce.
“I’ve witnessed from afar how exciting and energetic the Canberra food scene has become, and I can’t wait to open Carlotta and work with the incredible array of local producers, growers and hospitality talent,” said Lucas.
Canberra boasts one of Australia’s fastest growing food scenes with a new generation of talent transforming the city into one of the most exciting places to dine out in the country. Buoyed by an increasingly youthful population, Canberra is a dynamic and vibrant city with a thirst for experiential dining and nighttime experiences.
Gary Stewart, General Manager of Canberra Centre said, “we are so thrilled to partner with Chris Lucas and Lucas Restaurants to bring one of his visionary, acclaimed restaurants to Canberra Centre.
“We envision that Carlotta’s presence within our vibrant Scotts Crossing precinct will serve to revitalise the city center, infusing even more energy and vitality into the nighttime economy of the CBD.”
