‘Christmas will be great this year’: Canberra man claims $100k lotto win

A Canberra man is set to experience a joyous Christmas after he won $100,000 in a lottery draw today.

The winning man missed the first calls from lottery officials but soon realised they were trying to deliver some important news.

“This is exciting, isn’t it!” he laughed.

“Wow. This couldn’t have come to a nicer bloke.

“I’ve always wondered what it’s like to win a major lottery prize, and now it’s happened.

“This will go a long way and help some family members.

“I’m not going to tell anyone except my wife. We’ve been together for a very long time. Our golden anniversary is almost here!

“Oh, I can’t believe it.

“Christmas will be great this year.”

The jubilant winner won the guaranteed 1st Prize of $100,000 in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10811, drawn Wednesday 22 November.

It was a gift that kept on giving for the long-time player, after his ticket also scored a consolation prize of $1,000, alongside the guaranteed 1st Prize – bolstering his total windfall to $101,000.
