Clean-up collects 108 bags of rubbish

On Sunday 15 December, 134 volunteers took part in Clean-up Lake Burley Griffin Day on foot, dragon boat, kayak, canoe and stand-up paddle boards, collecting 108 bags of rubbish in three hours.

According to volunteer event coordinator, Tammy Ven Dange, this year volunteers brought in 46% more rubbish than last year; “this included some things that were only visible because water levels are so low right now”.

The clean-up took place at seven different locations across the lake with most of the rubbish from drink and food packaging.
