Constitution Place awarded 2021 Project of the Year

An impressive feat of engineering with curved corners and mega beam roof structure, Constitution Place, developed by Construction Control Australia, has taken out the Master Builders ACT and Asset Construction Hire’s 2021 Project of the Year award.

In the heart of Canberra City, the 80,000 sqm precinct features the five-star Adina Hotel, the ARC Café, and two outstanding commercial offices, both with high ceilings and large windows.

The curved façade on every corner of the building is a technically complex part of the build and required a factory three-curve pass to complete each glass panel.

An impressive mega beam roof structure, the London Circuit building required a concrete encasement of two side-by-side 1200mm steel welded beams, reinforcement steel and post tension.

From floor to ceiling are incredible stone finishes on the ground floor of both buildings, creating a superb grand entrance. Other features include timber veneer joinery, glass reinforced concrete, marble wall panelling, and broadloom floor finishes.

Construction Control Australia also won:

  • Commercial or Retail Fitout, Refurbishment or Alteration more than $5million – London Circuit ACT Government Fitout
  • Commercial Building $5 million to $20 million – Willinga Park – Administration Building Expansion
  • Commercial Building more than $50 million – Constitution Place
  • Onsite Construction Manager of the Year
  • Project Manager of the Year
  • WH&S Targeted Risk Management System – 6 Brindabella – implementation of Simpel SWMS/Safety Plans Module and Safety Platform with Project Simpel

Master Builders ACT CEO, Michael Hopkins, said Constitution Place is an “outstanding development that has rightfully earnt its place in the heart of the City”.

“Constitution Place has a gold WELLs rating and a 5-star NABERS energy rating, which sets a highly respectable precedent for future projects in the Canberra CBD.”
