Surrounded by native parklands at the foot of Mount Ainslie, construction on The Foothills residential development in Campbell has started this week.
DOMA, one of the largest investment and development companies in the ACT, is behind this development of luxury residential townhouses and apartments. A spokesperson said the site was assessed throughout the development application phase for architectural, cultural, and ecological heritage. A report accepted by the Commonwealth Government confirmed the site did not meet the threshold for geological significance or heritage protection.
DOMA managing director, Jure Domazet, said construction is underway with all approvals received, machinery on site, and fencing erected.
“We are extremely excited to be a step closer to bringing our vision for The Foothills to fruition. The Foothills is a prime site perfectly located close to the CBD but in the heart of nature. We have been extremely conscious of ensuring the design and quality of the homes match its premier setting,” Mr Domazet said.
“Design of these contemporary but sophisticated residences has been inspired by mid-century modernist forms. Canberra has a considerable number of mid-century homes, and this period was foundational to the national capital’s development. We are pleased to be able to reflect the city’s architectural heritage at The Foothills.”
The precinct’s apartments and townhouses will boast a northern aspect with views spanning across the city and the lake. Communal amenities will include a pool, tennis court, gym, theatre, internal park areas, and a concierge service.
The four-hectare site will consist of 117 apartments and 135 townhouses, ranging in size from a 67sqm one-bedroom apartment through to a 280sqm four-bedroom townhouse.
Colliers Director Residential, Josh Reid, said the commencement of construction was an important milestone for buyers and potential buyers.
“Confidence in this project and DOMA’s reputation in delivering quality homes means the majority of residences in this exceptional development have already been snapped up, even before construction got underway,” Mr Reid said.
“All townhouses that have been released to date have already been sold and only 15 apartments remain to be sold. Demand has been particularly strong from downsizers wanting a city central location with all the associated easy access to amenities, but without the noise and traffic of the CBD.
“We will shortly release Precinct 4 of The Foothills to the market. This precinct consists of 14 large three- and four-bedroom townhouses that face due north. Each townhouse will also have large garages with lift access to all floors. We know this release is eagerly anticipated.”
