A 32-year-old Crace man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a car at gunpoint from a Watson residence this morning, Monday 1 May.Â
About 8.30am, ACT Policing received a report that a man wearing dark clothing and with his face covered had threatened a woman at the residence with a firearm, demanding the keys to a Tesla parked at the residence.Â
The victim was able to provide location updates for the car, and an initial attempt to intercept the vehicle in Downer was unsuccessful. Police officers then engaged in a short pursuit, which was abandoned due to safety concerns for other road users. Â
Officers from ACT Policing Criminal Investigations, Operation TORIC, City Station, Gungahlin Station, Family Violence, and AFP Specialist Response established a cordon in Ainslie, where the man was arrested and the vehicle recovered about 9.05am.
The man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow, Tuesday 2 May, charged with aggravated robbery, driving a stolen motor vehicle, furious driving, and fail to stop for police. Â
