After 18 years, Debacle calls last drinks this Friday

After 18 years as a go-to place in Braddon for a good night out, Debacle International Bar and Grill will close its doors for the final time this Friday 2 July.

In a statement, owner of Debacle, Brad Daniel, said between the COVID-19 pandemic and Canberra’s emerging trends and developments, it had been difficult to keep Debacle contemporary and viable.

“Debacle was the place to be in Braddon long before Lonsdale Street became the culinary strip of the city,” Mr Daniel said.

“It’s been an icon in Canberra for many years, and we’ve paved the way for a diverse dining and entertainment culture – but now it’s time to move on.”

Mr Daniel said that he and his team would be celebrating this significant occasion in true Debacle style.

“We want to pay tribute to Debacle’s journey and legacy and say cheers to our great patrons and the many businesses that have supported us,” he said.

“So please come down and let me thank you personally for being part of the Debacle story.”

During the next three days, Debacle will be offering all the classic international beers as well as a great range of local wines and Aussie craft froths.

Mr Daniels said Canberrans should expect to hear some noise in Lonsdale Street on Friday night as all Debacle’s friendly faces – old and new – “kick up our heels (COVID appropriately) and call last drinks … for the last time!”
