Drug charges for Coffs Harbour driver shot at by police

A driver who was shot by police in regional NSW after allegedly trying to ram them has been charged with numerous drug offences.

Police say they stopped the man’s vehicle on the Pacific Highway at Coffs Harbour on Thursday morning and as officers approached, he drove at them.

An officer then discharged his firearm as the man drove away before being caught a short time time later, NSW Police said in a statement.

The 29-year-old was arrested without incident, and on Friday charged with 30 offences including drug possession, drug supply and dealing with proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and is due to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on Saturday.

NSW Police say an independent review is continuing into the critical incident.
