Drug-driver arrested again in Isabella Plains

ACT Policing charged a 31-year-old man with driving and drug offences in Isabella Plains today, 23 May.

About 9.10am, ACT Policing officers were conducting traffic targeting duties in Isabella Plains when their Automatic Numberplate Recognition System (ANPR) identified a vehicle as being unregistered.

Before police were able to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver stopped the vehicle and fled. After a short foot pursuit the man was apprehended. Police checks revealed the driver was subject to a First Instance Warrant for failing to appear before the court in relation to a previous alleged drug-driving matter.

The man provided an oral fluid sample which returned a positive result for methamphetamine. A subsequent search located a white granular substance, which is suspected to be methamphetamine.

The driver has been charged with driving with a prescribed drug in oral fluid, unlicensed driving, suspended driving and possessing a drug of dependence and is expected to appear in court this afternoon.
