Drunk man drives into parked cars in Braddon, forces pedestrians to jump out of the way

A 34-year-old Downer man will face court today, 21 December on multiple charges following a single vehicle collision in Braddon yesterday.

About 4.05pm yesterday, police observed a silver Holden sedan to be driving erratically in Braddon and soon after the sedan collided with two parked vehicles, a concrete barrier and fence – coming to a stop in Eloura Street.

During the incident multiple pedestrians had to jump out of the way of the poorly driven vehicle.

Police arrested the driver and established that the vehicle had allegedly been stolen earlier in the afternoon.

The 34-year-old driver was taken into custody where a roadside screening test indicated positive for alcohol. The man subsequently sought medical assistance during a breath analysis procedure and then allegedly refused to have a blood sample taken while at hospital.

He was charged with refusing a blood test, driving while disqualified, two counts of breaching a good behaviour order, driving a motor vehicle without consent and negligent driving. He is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today.

Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident (who has not already spoken to police) or anyone who may have dash-cam footage of the incident in Braddon yesterday.

Anyone who can assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.  Please quote 7625514.
