A 28-year-old man from Dunlop has been charged by police after they discovered approximately one kilogram of cocaine with an estimated street value of around $230,000.

Acting on intelligence received, officers from the Criminal Investigations team executed a search warrant at a home in Dunlop on Monday 11 May.

The 28-year-old was subsequently arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled drug.

Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations, Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said that while COVID-19 had changed how the community operates, police remain pro-active for drug traffickers.

โ€œThe strong relationship between ACT Policing and the ACT community coupled with the dedication of our detectives resulted in this seizure,โ€ said Superintendent Moller.

โ€œBy seizing these drugs, we continue working on reducing drug harm. This results in savings in our health system, stronger families and a stronger community,โ€ Detective Superintendent Moller said.

The man is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 12 May, where bail will be opposed.
