A 28-year-old man from Dunlop has been charged by police after they discovered approximately one kilogram of cocaine with an estimated street value of around $230,000.
Acting on intelligence received, officers from the Criminal Investigations team executed a search warrant at a home in Dunlop on Monday 11 May.
The 28-year-old was subsequently arrested and charged with trafficking in a controlled drug.
Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations, Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said that while COVID-19 had changed how the community operates, police remain pro-active for drug traffickers.
“The strong relationship between ACT Policing and the ACT community coupled with the dedication of our detectives resulted in this seizure,” said Superintendent Moller.
“By seizing these drugs, we continue working on reducing drug harm. This results in savings in our health system, stronger families and a stronger community,” Detective Superintendent Moller said.
The man is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today, Tuesday 12 May, where bail will be opposed.
