The Museum celebrates all things Greek this Easter
The ever-popular Greek ‘evil-eye’ chocolate egg by local artisans Enigma Fine Chocolate is now available from the Museum Shop. A wide range of Easter chocolate from brands Jasper + Myrtle, Sweetpea & Poppy, and Koko Black are also on sale in the Museum and exhibition shops.
Traditionally, red eggs are a meaningful part of the Greek Easter Sunday celebration, the red colour symbolising the blood of Christ and the egg symbolising rebirth. (and) In Greek theology, the ‘evil-eye’ symbol is used to protect against bad energy and the evil eye curse.
As part of the Ancient Greeks: Athletes, Warriors and Heroes exhibition on show until 1 May, the National Museum is hosting a number of Greek-themed events over the coming weeks, including the Agora Festival on 9 April and a performance from poet and rapper Luka Lesson in Agapi & Other Kinds of Love, showing 27–29 April.
In the spirit of celebrating all things Greek, now is the perfect time to come and explore what’s on offer at the Museum while stocking up on chocolate for Easter.
