Dangerous driving, drug driving and attempting to escape from custody following his arrest are among the multiple charges a 32-year-old Evatt man will face in the ACT Magistrates Court today, Wednesday 20 May.
About 3.30pm yesterday, Tuesday 19 May, an ACT Policing motorcyclist indicated to the driver of a Blue Subaru Liberty that he should slow down as he was approaching a school zone in Baddeley Crescent, Spence.
Police will allege the driver accelerated away onto Kingsford Smith Drive, Alpen Street, and Alfred Hill Crescent, reaching speeds in excess of 100km/h in a 60 zone.
Later that afternoon, police received information that led them to locate the vehicle and the alleged driver in Evatt.
Police will further allege that after his arrest the man tried to flee on foot but was apprehended as he attempted to jump a fence.
The full list of charges the man will are failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, drug driving, and attempting to escape from custody.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
The arrest comes just days after ACT Policing announced frustration at a spate of recent incidents of poor driving behaviour on ACT roads.
